Image Trans Inkjet Dark Guide
General Use
This transfer paper for colour inkjet printers can be printed with 1440 dpi and is epecially suitable for high resolution photographs. You can image all coloured fabrics made of cotton or cotton blend, as well as synthetic fabrics (polyester, nylon, etc.) Create your own t-shirts, caps, bags, cushions etc.
Printing
Inkjet – Dark works in Colour Inkjet Printers, Use single sheet feeding only print on the coated, rough side of the transfer paper making sure you produce a right reading image (not mirror Image!)
NB: Do not use T-Shirt Transfer Setting. For best results use high resolution or photo quality option trim away the unprinted paper around your image.
Iron on Transfer
- Iron on a hard surface, NOT an ironing board. Place a pillowcase or T-Shirt between your hard surface and your garment to allow the heat to penetrate the transfer.
- Remove paperbacking from transfer film. NB: Tear paperbacking slightly, about 1/8 inch, for easy removal of paperbacking or usean exacto knife in the corner between film and backing paper.
- Position imaged transfer film on garment with printed side face up.
- Cover imaged transfer film with enclosed silicon paper . (This is to protect the imaged transfer film.)
- Adjust iron at highest temperature setting.
- Step press, with firm pressure, slowly along each side of the image. Hold each press for 45 seconds, ensure all edges and corners are firmly pressed. Continue to step press over the entire image, again each step press should be held for 45 seconds until entire has been pressed and all areas have been pressed for 45 seconds each.
- Allow silicon to cool completely and peel off.
- NB: Total ironing time should be 5 – 6 minutes for an 8.5 x 11 image.
Transfer with Heat Press
- Do not preheat shirt as this is an unnecessary step and may cause the film to curl on the shirt. However, if curl occurs, flatten when you cover with the silicon paper.
- Remove paperbacking from transfer film – (Tip: Tear paperbacking slightly, about 1/8 inch, for easy removal of paperbacking (this should be done in one of the image’s lighter areas if possible), or use a scalpel in the corner between film and backing paper.
- One torn or lifted by a scapel, the backing paper is extremely easy to remove.
- Position imaged transfer film on garment with printed side face up
- Cover imaged transfer film with enclosed silicon paper
- Press at 190*C using medium pressure for 30 seconds
- NB:Do not over press Inkjet Dark, pressure should be set at maximum ‘seven’ if pressure is gauged from one to ten. Medium pressure is recommended.
- Allow silicon to cool completely then remove. If peeled while warm some of the image may transfer back to the silicon.
- If you run out of the provided silicon paper, you can use regular non waxed craft paper.
- Transfer can be re-ironed after wash using silicon paper enclosed or non waxed craft paper.
